This section is devoted to differences in
parts between early and late '67 cars as well as differences between
'67, '68 and '69 parts that have not been noted elsewhere. |
 |
These are the rebound stops for a '67 subframe
lower A-arm snubber. The Camaro had the snubber bolted to the
subframe, but Pontiac decided to it the other way. Don't ask me
why. Below is the design from my January '67 car and above is from
my June '67 car. |
 |
My early '67 gussets had an extra hole with a
weld nut attached to the other side. (Left gusset, lower right
side.) Right is a gusset from my late '67 parts car. These
are absolutely factory holes and I've seen two other early cars with
them. What could the factory have intended these for? |
 |
These are two sets of the "L" brackets for the
frame side motor mounts. The upper set are a beefier design for
the '68-'69 cars while the lower set are for '67. |
 |
This is a picture the quarter panel louvre/gill
chrome studs. The top piece is from my early '67 car. Note
the different part number and much larger diameter studs. The
middle piece is from my late '67 car and the lower piece is a
Trim Parts
reproduction. My early car chrome had the recessed portion
painted black so I reproduced this effect on the reproduction chrome.
Although I already had my original pieces rechromed, the reproduction
parts fit my reproduction quarters much better so I sold my quarter
panel sections and chrome to someone off the FGF site. |
 |
These are bucket seat back latches. The
bottom latch is from my early '67 car (note the lever extension is
attached with a screw), the middle (replated) from a late
'67 car (note the lever extension is riveted on) and the top from a '69 car. Note the difference in the
lever. The '69 has a thicker lever and the chrome knobs have a
larger hole for this. Interestingly, the reproduction latches are
of the early '67 design and the knobs are of the '69 design. |

The jamb at left is on an early '67 car and
the one on the right is from a late model year car. I've seen
enough late April and subsequent cars with the second design to believe
that the changeover occurred before late April. The later
indentation design was done to accommodate the '68 jamb vent/Astroventilation
improvement. |

Pictured at top is a 1967 Firebird wiper motor
crank. At the bottom is a 1968, 1969 wiper motor crank.
Notice the different orientation of the crank hole. Pictured
middle is a modified '68 crank that allowed me to reorient my wiper
motor to clear the taller valve covers I'm using. |

I'm always looking for more '67-68 trivia
to post. |
